5 ways to stay motivated to exercise more often

  1. Set yourself goals. Set realistic goals that include clear milestones. I always thrive to have a short, medium and long term goals. This could be anything from losing wait/inches or even running a marathon. Why not register for a 5k run and then you can commit to an exercise program that will get you in shape by race day.

  2. Change your perspective/mentality. Start thinking like an athlete; why not use the Olympics as inspiration. Committing to a fitness routine begins in your head. Try and think that workouts are a blessing and not a sacrifice.

  3. Schedule in your workout times. One of the benefits of training with me is that the client has to stick to the time and place that the sessions are booked in for. Sit down with your diary and book in a time every day. This could well be time used to go for a walk or train like an athlete, (you decide)

  4. Think fun and mix it up. We all need to change variety to stay motivated, that’s why I thrive on keeping things innovative but we also need to have fun whilst doing it. Soon enough you’ll find new things that you truly enjoy.

  5. Think about the benefits, not the difficulties. One common problem is that we think about how hard something is. Exercise sounds so hard! Just thinking about it makes you tired. But instead of thinking about how hard something is, think about what you will get out of it. For example, instead of thinking about how tiring exercise can be, focus on how good you’ll feel when you’re done, and how you’ll be healthier and slimmer over the long run. The benefits of something will help energize you.
